Ted Turner Plans Stampede Into Market

DENVER-The media mogul plans to open five Ted's Montana Grills in the area, most likely Aspen Grove shopping center in suburban Littleton and Larimer Square Downtown. Other test markets are Columbus, OH and his hometown of Atlanta.

DENVER-Media mogul Ted Turner, who has been bullish on bison for years, will open five of his new Ted’s Montana Grills in the Denver area. The bison-serving restaurant chain currently is negotiating leases in the recently opened Aspen Grove shopping center in Littleton, as well as Larimer Square, an enclave of historic buildings Downtown.

The Atlanta-based company also is scouting locations in Cherry Creek, Highlands Ranch and Colorado Springs. All of the restaurants should be open in the next two years.

The first Ted’s Montana Grill opened in Columbus, OH in mid-January and has been able to corral a large number of diners, even though demand at high-end restaurants that typically serve buffalo has dropped since Sept. 11.
