$2B Air Park Gains Long-Awaited Approval

SACRAMENTO, CA-The Metro Air Park project was proposed in the 1980s by 22 ownership groups. Finally, the project has been awarded a permit that may allow it to break ground this summer.

SACRAMENTO, CA-The Metro Air Park project, a $2 billion mixed-use business park next to Sacramento International Airport may break ground this summer, now that developers have been awarded a 50-year permit.

Metro Air Park, which will consist of 20 million-sf of office, light industrial, hotel and retail space and a huge golf course, was proposed more than 20 years ago.

However, private owners of the 1,900-acre property just received a permit last week that will enable it develop on the property. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded the owners a 50-year incidental take permit that will allow developers to destroy or harm some protected species in return for conservation and mitigation measures.
