NEW ROCHELLE-Signature Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim of Tel Aviv, and Webster Bank of Waterbury, CT., report they have opened new offices in New Rochelle and Stamford respectively.

Signature Bank President Joseph DePaolo says that the bank's new office is in approximately 2,800 sf of space at the Quaker Ridge Shopping Center in New Rochelle. In addition, the bank will announce shortly new office openings in New York City and Long Island.

Signature Bank was launched in the spring of 2001 with six locations in New York City. The New Rochelle office is the bank's first in Westchester County. The bank, which is headquartered at 565 Fifth Ave., also has operations in Houston. The bank's parent Bank Hapoalim is the largest bank in Israel and one of the top 150 banks in the world. A consortium of private investors, including noted financiers Lewis Ranieri and Westchester resident Michael Steinhardt own 45 percent of the institution.

DePaolo notes, “Signature's early success is evidence of the strong demand among successful individuals and businesses for more personalized service than huge commercial banks and brokerage firms can provide. Our new location will allow us to better serve current and future clients who are looking for the high-touch personalized financial care Signature provides.”

The bank also reports it has just received an additional $55 million capital investment from its parent bank. Since its opening last May, Signature Bank and its affiliate Signature Securities have more than 10,000 accounts and more than $850 million in combined assets, company officials say.

Webster Bank of Waterbury celebrated the opening of a new branch office at 1959 Summer St., in Stamford, CT. Bank officials say the new branch signals the start of its “aggressive expansion into lower Fairfield County.”

Local dignitaries attending the branch opening included Stamford Mayor Dannel P. Malloy as well as other local politicians and business leaders. Webster Bank has plans to open another branch in downtown Stamford at 1 Atlantic St., Webster officials say. The bank filed an application with the federal Office of Thrift Supervision for approval of that branch site.

Webster Bank has 12 other branch locations, including eight in Fairfield County: Brookfield, Danbury, Fairfield, Ridgefield, Shelton, Stratford, Westport and Wilton.
