Chrysler Sells Dayton Plant, Operations

DAYTON, OH-Behr America, Inc. needs a fifth US plant for expanded capacities while the automaker divests itself of a 1.1-million-sf parts facility in a deal expected to close at month's end. Purchase price is undisclosed.

DAYTON, OH-A 1.1-million-sf manufacturing facility is part of a deal a local automaker signed to sell an arm of a proprietary automotive supply company. Chrysler Group of Auburn Hills signed an agreement with Behr America, Inc., based in Troy, Michigan, to sell its Dayton Thermal Products component operation plant here.

Behr will assume operational responsibility while Chrysler will maintain a minority interest for two years to assist in the transition, company officials say.

Over the next three to five years, Behr it plans to expand the line products manufactured in the Dayton facility.
