The builder, Peerless Golf Inc., plans to invest $2 million to $3 million to build the 18-hole course off Woods Valley Road.

The course should be ready in spring 2003. Newland is developing 437 acres in a project that will include more than 200 homes, in addition to the golf course.

Residents attended a Valley Center Community Planning Group meeting to criticize Newland for beginning grading of the property without having a builder in tow. Newland officials promised to sign a builder and have now followed through.
