"The groundbreaking is scheduled to be in April of next year and completion is scheduled for November 15, 2005," Fentress principal Brian Chaffee tells GlobeSt.com. The museum's debut is planned to coincide with the Marine Corps' 230th anniversary. "It's a fabulous site," Chaffee adds, "very visible from I-95." Part of the Fentress design includes a 160-ft tall glass atrium and a 210-ft high architectural component that will serve as the central focus. Chafee says, "we are very excited to be working with them and moving forward with the project." Ultimately, the museum will be part of a grand complex, featuring an IMAX theater, a 1,500-seat auditorium, an office building and a conference center. A budget for that second phase of construction has not yet been ascertained.
