Dell moved the offices of its top executives and other corporate functions to the 80,000-sf Las Cimas II building in 2000 as fast growth ate up space at its Round Rock and Parmer Lane campuses. It also leased the neighboring Las Cimas III, which recently was completed.

Between then and now, the computer market went into a slowdown. While Dell has managed to become the top seller of personal computers in that time, its profits have been severely reduced as it cut prices to gain market share. The company has cut several thousand jobs, most of them in Central Texas.

As Dell leases the Las Cimas II space, it would move employees to buildings at the Round Rock or Parmer campuses, Michelle Glaze, a Dell spokeswoman, tells GlobeSt.com. The Las Cimas buildings are part of a 400,000-sf three-building development just of Capital of Texas Highway near its intersection with Bee Cave Road. Las Cimas I is largely occupied by CCI-Triad Inc. A fourth building has been planned.
