Kmart Closing Six Washington Stores

SEATTLE-Located in Bellevue, Renton, Edmonds, Port Orchard, Sunnyside and Veradale, the six Big Mart locations are among 284 nationwide that will begin closing later this year as part of its initial Chapter 11 financial objectives review, assuming the court gives its approval next week.

SEATTLE-Six Washington Big Kmart stores and one Oregon location were among the list of 284 underperforming locations that Kmart Corp. on March 20 will ask the bankruptcy court to let them shut down as part of its “initial Chapter 11 financial objectives review,” the Troy, Mich.-based company announced this morning.

The Washington locations that will be closing are located in Bellevue (15015 Main Street), Renton (440 Rainier Avenue S), Port Orchard (1353 Olney Avenue SE), Edmonds (22511 Hwy 99), Sunnyside (2600 Yakima Valley Hwy) and Veradale (PO Box 220). The lone Oregon store on the list is a Big Kmart located at 850 Southgate in the northeastern Oregon city of Pendleton.
