The prize carries the name of Turner Construction's founder and is being established to honor "an invention, an innovative methodology, and/or exceptional leadership by an individual or team of individuals in construction technology." Roberston, who heads Manhattan's Leslie E. Robertson Associates, has been praised for much of his groundbreaking work over the span of his 50-year career, and is behind the design of three of the world's six tallest buildings, including the World Trade Center. In response to the terrorist attacks that toppled the three- decades old structures last September Robertson said to the press, "if I knew then what I know today they would have stood longer."
