Other properties are in Austell, Brunswick, Conyers, Decatur, Hinesville, Kennesaw, Lafayette, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Roswell and Smyrna.

Some of the nation's largest REITs, such as Kimco Realty, Malan Realty, Diversified Realty, New Plan Excel and Crown American Realty have large lease deals with Kmart and could suffered reduced rent revenue as well, area brokers say.

In Stockbridge, GA, 10 miles south of Downtown Atlanta, an 86,479-sf facility owned by Atlanta-based JDN Realty Corp., has closed its doors. Located in the Freeway Junction shopping center at 3879 Hwy. 138 SE, the lease termination is expected to result in the loss of about $329,000 in annualized rent for the developer, Charles N. Talbert, director of investor relations for JDN, tells GlobeSt.com. In all, the Troy, MI-based retailer plans to cut 22,000 jobs across the country and close 284 stores.
