Dell Acquires 100,000-SF Data Center From Exodus

AUSTIN-As Dell Computer Corp. looks for sublease tenants, it pushes ahead on a data center buy in Austin's northeast submarket. The space, GlobeSt.com is told, will be used to house the computers that drive Dell's business.

AUSTIN-Dell Computer Corp. may be contracting its office space, but it needs more room for the computers than run the business. That’s why the company has bought 100,000-sf data center in northeast Austin from Exodus Communications Inc.

The Park Center Business Park holding will provide Dell with space to operate the servers that power the company’s internal Internet communications, Michele Glaze, a Dell spokeswoman, tells GlobeSt.com. “Basically, this is an existing facility that’s going to allow Dell to continue our technology expansion in a cost-effective manner,” she said. The company also has other data center operations in Central Texas.
