Township Supervisor William Bamber says the project on 110 acres will feature 800 housing units and 255,000 sf of commercial space. However, Bamber adds most residents aren't exactly happy to know they'll have to deal with a lot of congestion and road problems in the future.

"A large number of residents know this sewer line is going to bring headaches," he tells GlobeSt.com. "They don't want more people moving in. Of course, that's how the people who lived here before they moved in felt."

Bamber says the sewer line should be started in the fall and be finished by August 2003. Most of the new developments will begin in February 2003, so they can begin hooking up to the line when it's completed.

The projects include:

* Oceola Village, being developed by CT Investco of Wixom, MI. This project has been fully approved by the township.

* Two projects across M-59 from one another. One is a 150-unit multifamily rental building on 23 acres by Lamb Development of Howell, MI and the other features more than 100 single-family homes, by Moorlands Inc.

* Two single-family projects on Latson by Saline, MI-based Wexford Homes Inc., each on more than 100 acres and each with more than 240 units.

* Jonna Gonzalez LLC is working on a commercial project on more than 8 acres on M-59 and Bigelow. Bamber says the company is also negotiating to buy more nearby land, including a 10-acre parcel and a 7-acre parcel.

A new school in the Howell District, Hutchings Elementary School, will also connect to new sewer. The district and the developers are paying the cost of the infrastructure.
