Kaiser Subleases 43,000 SF

ROCKVILLE, MD-Kaiser Permanente has subleased 46,300 sf of space from MedStar-Georgetown Medical Center in the building at 1396 Piccard Dr. Kaiser plans to open a medical center there late this summer.

“It will be our 26th medical center in the Washington-Baltimore area, and the fifth in Montgomery County,” Kaiser’s Susan Whyte-Simon tells GlobeSt.com. “It will primarily feature specialty care but we’re planning to add primary care later on. We’re trying to make specialty services more accessible to people in upper Montgomery County.” The center will offer a pharmacy and lab services, as well. Located off I-270 in North Rockville, the two-story building has been under lease by MedStar for use as a Georgetown University practice location. While the lease terms were unavailable, records show that the now 32-year old building was purchased in 2000 for $12.5 million.
