Scotts LawnService Acquires the Lawn Co.

WEYMOUTH, MA-Scotts LawnService, a division of The Scotts Company, acquired The Lawn Company, a lawn care service company with three locations in the state–here and in South Dennis and in Sagamore Beach. The purchase marks the Ohio-based company’s expansion into the Greater Boston area.

Wih this acquisition, Scotts LawnService now has company-owned operations in 35 markets and franchises operating in 46 markets. Additional details about the transaction were not disclosed and representatives from The Lawn Company referred all questions to The Scotts Company, which did not return calls by presstime. In a released statement, James Hagedorn, president and CEO of The Scotts Company, says, “The Lawn Company transaction demonstrates our continued commitment to Scotts LawnService and our belief that this business is critical to our overall profitable growth. Our recent acquisitions keep us on target with our goal of having a substantial presence in the top 100 lawn service markets within the next several years.”
