The project is expected to cost $100 million. The commission took the matter under advisement when a hearing concluded.
The purpose of the expansion is to improve freight transportation by providing enough capacity to handle existing and future freight movement between trucks and rail.The subject area consists of 500 acres in size. The rail strategy calls for a 300- to 350-acre expansion with six gates allowing fro the traverse of 16,000 trucks, serviced via Wyoming.
Almost 40 residents spoke up at the hearing and opposed the project, claiming it will cause unbearably pollution, noise problems, crime and unsafe situations.
