Coalition Opens Affordable Housing Project

DENVER-The first new construction, affordable rental loft project ever built in Denver opens Downtown Thursday at 2135 Stout St. The 81-unit project will serve Downtown workers priced out of local housing as well as former homeless persons.

DENVER-The non-profit Colorado Coalition for the Homeless will open its 81-unit Renaissance Off-Broadway rental project at 2135 Stout St. Downtown Thursday. This represents the first newly constructed, affordable rental loft project ever built in Denver, says John Parvensky, president of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

Twenty-six of the lofts will be rented to formerly homeless individuals. The remaining 55 lofts will be rented to Downtown workers who cannot afford the high-priced lofts in Lower Downtown and in the Central Platte Valley, he says.

The project was built on a vacant parking lot just east of Broadway. It includes a mixture of studio, one- and two-bedroom units, built over a two-story parking garage. The development also includes an enclosed courtyard and 4,000 sf of retail and office space.
