Starwood to Open 47 New Hotels by End of 2003

WHITE PLAINS-Fresh off several recent new hotel openings in New York City, Hollywood, Fla., and several in resort destinations overseas, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide says that in the next two years the company will open 47 new hotels in major metropolitan locales around the world.

WHITE PLAINS-Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide reports that it has 47 new hotel/resort properties in the pipeline for development that will open this year or in 2003.

In the last few months, Starwood has opened several major new facilities including the 509-room W New York – Times Square, Star wood’s W brand’s new flagship hotel, and the 1,000-room Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

The hotelier has another facility scheduled to open in New York City’s revitalized Times Square district — The Westin New York at Times Square, an 863-room facility, which will accommodate its first guests by November of this year.
