According to New York City Economic Development Corp. president Andrew M. Alper, developer Brooklyn Renaissance Hotel LLC will purchase an 8,000-sf parcel of city-owned land at 345 Adams St., adjacent to the hotel. A 180,000-sf building will be erected on the site and attached to the main hotel building by a short enclosed bridge over the existing promenade connecting Adams and Jay streets. The 23-story addition will comprise 280 guest rooms, ground-level retail space and second-floor meeting rooms.

"Since its doors opened in 1998, the New York Marriott Brooklyn Hotel has been met with unprecedented success," says Alper. "The hotel has generated more than 2,000 jobs for Downtown Brooklyn. This expansion will ensure Downtown Brooklyn's future as a major business district."

Brooklyn Renaissance is an affiliate of Muss Development and operated by Marriott Hotel Services Inc. Founded in 1906, Muss is headquartered in Forest Hills, NY with offices in Brooklyn and Staten Island. EDC is negotiating the sale of the property to Brooklyn Renaissance on behalf of the City of New York.
