$53M Expansion for Brooklyn Marriott

NEW YORK CITY-The city-owned New York Marriott Brooklyn Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn will undergo a $53-million expansion that is expected to create more than 100 new jobs and generate about $2.5 million in annual revenue.

According to New York City Economic Development Corp. president Andrew M. Alper, developer Brooklyn Renaissance Hotel LLC will purchase an 8,000-sf parcel of city-owned land at 345 Adams St., adjacent to the hotel. A 180,000-sf building will be erected on the site and attached to the main hotel building by a short enclosed bridge over the existing promenade connecting Adams and Jay streets. The 23-story addition will comprise 280 guest rooms, ground-level retail space and second-floor meeting rooms.
