DENVER-Locally based Haselden Construction recently landed more than $30 million in contracts to build schools. While the market for most types of construction is slowing, the construction and renovation of K-12 educational facilities remains strong, the company says.

School districts around the state have been playing catch up with the population growth experienced in the past five to 10 years. And many of the districts have money from bond issues for the construction of new schools or additions and renovations to existing schools.

In its largest job, Douglas County School District selected Haselden to manage and construct $12.5 million in additions and renovations to Highlands Ranch High School. The 22,000-acre Highlands Ranch is the largest master-planned community in the metro area.
