The Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group has a 57-year lease agreement with the National Park Service, which owns the Haslett Warehouse, to redevelop the warehouse into a boutique hotel with museum.

The Argonaut Hotel, whose profits will help support the adjacent Maritime National Historic Park, is now likely to open in the year 2003 instead of this fall, according to a representative of the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group.

The cause of the fire and estimates of the damage have not been determined.
