The agents are quoting £190m ($270m), for a sale & leaseback based on an average rent of £50 ($72) per sf., Barclays occupies approximately 80% of the space with other tenants coming from the financial and legal sectors. The landmark tower building was completed in 1993 on a 1.25-acre site.
Terry Knight, who is leading the project at Atis Real Weatheralls said: 'This provides the property and investment world with one of the most exciting opportunities to acquire a major City holding, with opportunities to grow its potential during the coming four or five years.'
Construction work is already underway on Barclays' one million-sf headquarters at Canary Wharf, and by 2005 the building will the majority of Barclays' non-branch staff currently based in the City and West End.
