Brownfield Grant Sought for 80-Acre Site

QUINCY, MI-Speedrack wants a $1-million grant to clean up a former window company property for a 330,000-sf warehouse building. That's on top of a $1.4-million incentive package that kept the company in the state.

QUINCY, MI-Speedrack Products Group Ltd. is applying for a $1-million brownfield redevelopment grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to remediate the former Acorn Window Systems facility. The grant would pay for a baseline environmental assessment, demolition, evaluation and remedial action at the 80-acre site on Cole Street.

The company, a manufacturer of metal warehouse storage/pallet racks, plans to purchase and renovate a 330,000-sf building, buy new machinery and equipment and transfer equipment from its two existing facilities.

Speedrack selected Quincy as a place to consolidate its two operations in Alabama and West Virginia, thanks in part to an incentive package provided by the state. The company’s headquarters is in Sparta, MI.
