BU Seeks Zoning Change for 1.45-MSF Project

BOSTON-Boston University is scheduled to go before the city's zoning commission today for approval of a 1,483-bed dormitory and 570,000-sf arena project the university wants to develop at the Commonwealth Armory site in the neighborhood of Allston.

BOSTON-Boston University is going before the city’s zoning commission today for approval of a dormitory and arena project the university wants to develop at the Commonwealth Armory site in the neighborhood of Allston.

The project involves an 889,000-sf, 1,483-bed dormitory, a 1000-car underground parking garage, and a 570,000-sf arena and recreation center. It will be located right next to the university’s playing fields on land acquired y the university. According to Meredith Baumann, spokesperson for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the project is large enough to require the city’s Article 80 review process.
