The International Church of the Foursquare acquired the 22,500-sf Good Times Skate Center and 2.63 acres from its original developer, Carter White III and Virginia White of Garland. The church has sold a residence, used as a church, to push its expansion plan, Elton Harwell, a senior vice president with Henry S. Miller Commercial in Dallas, tells GlobeSt.com.
Harwell says the property at 475 Oates Dr. went on the market in September 2001. The closing took longer than anticipated because the first contract fell out. Harwell says interest was high in the property due to its positioning in a community services corridor of the Dallas suburb. It is adjacent to a US Post Office and across the street from the library.
The rink will be renovated and used for the New Hope Fellowship Ministry, a member church of the buying entity. Harwell brokered the sale for the Garland couple while David Pittman of North Texas Realtors negotiated for the church.
