The Phase 2 development will include Scotland's first Xscape snowdome plus cinema, health club, specialist sports and leisure shopping and a 175 room hotel, to be developed by Capital & Regional in partnership with Liberty; a 300,000-sf business park and 900 homes including flats, townhouses and family homes.

Councillor Jackie Green, Convenor of Renfrewshire Council's Planning and Development Board said: 'We are delighted that Capital Shopping Centres want to make further significant investment in Renfrewshire. The result will be that a very large site of industrial dereliction will be transformed.'

The £300 million ($425 million) first phase of Braehead opened in 2000 with a 600,000-sf regional shopping centre anchored by Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's; a 250,000-sf retail park anchored by B&Q plus a 260,000-sf Ikea store; a 200,000-sf leisure development and a 100,000-sf business park.
