KANSAS CITY-AMC Entertainment has completed its acquisition of GC Cos., a company with 66 movie theaters, in a deal valued at about $167 million. The purchase follows a confirmation order issued March 19 by the Bankruptcy Court for the District ofDelaware approving GC’s reorganization plan, which is now complete.

The transaction includes 66 theatres with 621 screens in the U.S., and a 50% interest in a joint venture that operates 17 theatres with 160 screens in South America. The screens will be renamed AMC theatres between now and the end of May. AMC says it has no near-term plans for closing any of the GC properties.
