Construction Contracts Down in Michigan

DETROIT-New York-based F.W. Dodge reports commercial building in the state is down 22% from the previous year. The value of contracts in February was down just 1% t0 $296.3 million.

DETROIT-F.W. Dodge, a division of the New York-based McGraw-Hill Cos., reports commercial building in Michigan is down 22% in the last 12 months compared to the same period a year earlier. Commercial building contracts in the state, including manufacturing, educational, religious, administrative, recreational, hotel, dormitory andother buildings, were priced by F.W. Dodge at $608.4 million since February 2001. A year earlier, that cost was at $782.7 million.

In the month of February, the commercial building contracts were at $296.3 million, according to the company. The cost was a drop of 1% since February 2001, when contracts were at $300.2 million.
