FREDERICKSBURG, TX-The Hill Country haven of Fredericksburg is pushing a $1.1- million project for a visitor center, offices for the Fredericksburg Convention & Visitor Bureau, Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and Gillespie County Economic Development Commission.

One of the goals in building the center is to increase the time visitors spend in Fredericksburg by providing a place to showcase the town and the Texas Hill Country, according to Ernie Loeffler, the convention and visitors bureau director. One way to encourage longer visits is through the building’s state-of-the-art theater. It will screen a video about the area’s attractions. The design, by Stehling, Klein & Thomas Architects of Fredericksburg, uses limestone for the exterior with a standing seam metal roof and wood windows.
