"We are really, really excited about this because it is the first municipal golf course in the City of Richmond," Angela Jackson of the city's Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department tells GlobeSt.com. "Richmond was one of the few major cities in the country that didn't have a municipal golf course."

The project is being funded by grants from various national and local golf associations, as well as the city. However, the entire $3 million necessary to fully realize the endeavor is not yet in hand. "We would hope within the next few years we can anticipate the whole project being completed," Jackson-Archer notes.
