As a prelude to the 10-year lease, an investor operating under the name Grae Cibolo LLC, bought the 31,605-sf building from Cibolo Building Real Estate Ltd. Called the Cibolo Building, it sits on 5.15 acres at 103 Guadalupe in the community of Cibolo on the Interstate 35 corridor. Bob Trevino, a broker in the San Antonio office of Grubb & Ellis Co., represented the parties in the transactions.
Kalmar RT will produce the machines, called "Rough Terrain Material Handlers," in Lidhult, Sweden, and modify them to defense specifications at the San Antonio facility. It also will train personnel in the use of the machines at the facility. The machines are used to unload materials from transport vehicles under battlefield conditions.
Cibolo is one of several towns clustered around the interstate north of San Antonio. Trevino says Cibolo has been aggressive in courting business with fast utility hookups and the like.
