The announcement follows news earlier this week that Equity Office Properties Trust has signed on to put the terminals in 20 Northwest office buildings, 17 in the Seattle area and three in the Portland area. Additionally, Seattle-based Unico Properties also has committed to installing media terminals at the US Bancorp Tower, Portland largest office building.

The commitments mark Civia Media's first installations outside Seattle. The company now has 114 terminals installed or under contract. EOP's Seattle and Portland market installations serve as "beta" sites for Equity Office's portfolio. If the test goes well, EOP may request the terminals for its buildings across the country. Civia says the commitments keep the company on its growth goals and enable the company to expand its value proposition to advertisers and content providers.

Blending elements of television, electronic display, the Internet and interactive technology, the $15,000 Civia terminals incorporate still images and full motion video, live traffic cameras, animation and sound. The terminal has a 42-inch flat-panel display embedded in the upper half of an 8-foot-tall enclosure. The display has four distinct viewing zones, allowing people at a distance to scan headlines, announcements, and promotional messages, or when up close to use touch screen buttons to bring up specific information.
