The development will offer 297 senior rental units, 101 new homes, 245 new rental units and a 12,000-sf neighborhood retail center. The community will include a 100-unit enriched senior building to address special needs of residents.

The project was funded through a combination of HUD Hope VI funds, tax credit equity, conventional debt financing and Detroit infrastructure funds.

About 25% of the development is publicly funded.

The property is bordered by Canfield Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., the John C. Lodge Expressway service drive and Gibson Avenue. New streets will run through the development, and will be named after Motown music legends.

Scripps is comprised of Strather and Associates, a Detroit development and real estate investment firm headed by Herb Strather; Slavik Co., a Farmington Hills, MI-based real estate development company; Premier Property Management, a Detroit area property management company; and Rosenberg Housing Group, a New York City public housing consulting firm.
