Sol Baron, president of Lindstrom, says the buildings will occupy an area adjacent to the Stanwood Pavilion cinema and restaurant complex that will transform the strip centers into an urban village. The first building will combine 17,000-sf of flexible office and commercial space with 54 condominiums on the above three floors.

The residential units and related structures will encircle the building, creating a large, private interior courtyard. The design scheme of the project was developed by Dan Nelson, A.I.A. of Designs Northwest in Stanwood, and Gregory Minaker, A.I.A. of Peteet Engineering.

"Our first building will draw from Stanwood's historical architecture using contemporary materials and design strategies," Nelson says. "Future buildings will each have a different and distinct look that will serve to void the homogenous theme many developments feature."

The first planned building will be the cornerstone of a new streetscape envisioned for the Village and will connect two existing strip centers located behind Haggen with the Pavilion cinemas and restaurant complex.

Two additional mixed-use and office/commercial buildings are planned for a 10- block area. When completed, there will be 120 condominium units and 37,000 sf of office/commercial space in three mixed-use buildings. Another 30,000 sf of office/commercial space in the two other buildings are also planned for the project.

Baron says that the plans for this building are still very preliminary.

"We have begun the process of securing zoning approval for this use," Baron says. "The city has been very supportive of our Village in the past and we are hopeful that they will share our vision so we can get this project under development as soon as possible."
