City to Keep Frank's While Losing CART

TROY, MI-The Championship Auto Racing Team Professional racing group leaves the Top of Troy building for Indianapolis. Meanwhile, the city works to keep financially-troubled Frank's Nursery at its headquarters on Long Lake Road.

TROY, MI-The city is working with Frank’s Nursery to keep the garden store’s headquarters here but acknowledges it was impossible to keep the Championship Auto Racing Team (CART) here for a few more laps. The racing organization leases the eighth and part of the 13 floors on the Top of Troy building.

In March, CART announced it would move its 24-year-old organization to Indianapolis by June.

“We had worked with the state to try to keep CART here in Troy, but the CART board makeup, of four members from Indianapolis, made it difficult,” says Doug Smith, the city’s real estate and development director in a letter to the city council.
