At 87,000 sf, Akin Gump is the building's biggest tenant. Clark Thomas & Winters, which moved in earlier in the year, has 85,000 sf. Austin Ventures is to follow in June, taking 45,000 sf. Prudential Securities also has reserved a spot in the CBD's newest office structure. Prudential has signed for 3,000 sf, according to Jeff Pace, CarrAmerica's managing director in Austin. He adds CarrAmerica also intends to relocate its Austin offices to the building in a move from Park North at MoPac Expressway and Steck Avenue in the city's northern tier.
The Austin office of Dallas-based Akin Gump opened in 1979 and has 65 attorneys and consultants. The 23-story 300 W. Sixth is the first office tower built in downtown Austin in about 15 years. The 444,000-sf building has floor plates averaging 28,500 sf.
