Plans approved by the city council call for demolition of a portion of the center, former site of a HomeBase, an Edwards Theater and a Levitz Furniture store. Building 540,000 sf of new retail will be development firm Tone Yee and the developer, World Premier.
Wal-Mart would be the largest of two tenants signed at the property. Developers have been negotiating with electronics store Best Buy.
Built in the mid-1980s, the center is near Nordahl Road and state Route 78.
