Designed by Somerville, MA-based architectural firm Moshe Safdie & Associates, the 422,000-sf structure which will be a model of the new post-Oklahoma City Federal guidelines and standards, and the design will also take into consideration additional security features deemed necessary following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

"GSA continues to work closely with our customers at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to create a world class workplace, one that is functional, attractive, and secure," the GSA's Donald C. Williams explains. "This new facility will be that and more. When complete, this building will help ensure that ATF will continue to meet its critical mission, while it creates an impressive gateway along the New York Avenue corridor in our nation's Capital." The building will house 1,100 ATF employees and is scheduled to open in 2004.
