Former Downtown College Building for Sale

DETROIT-Wayne State University's pharmacy school finds new digs and puts Shapero Hall on the market for $6.4 million. The university is awaiting an environmental study, a prerequisite for the sale.

DETROIT-Wayne State University is waiting on an environmental study to sell one of its stately buildings in Downtown Detroit. The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences resides in the eight-story Shapero Hall on Rivard Street.

Now, the pharmacy college is moving to a new $66-million, 270,000-sf building at John R. and Mack Avenue.

The college would like to sell its Shapero Hall, and has hired Friedman Real Estate Group Inc. to market the building. The firm has listed the 150,888-sf building for $6.4 million.
