Owned by the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO), the property sits on 235-acres at the foot of Evitts Mountain near Lake Habeeb at 16701 Lakeview Road. Renowned golf pro Jack Nicklaus designed the 18-hole course at Rocky Gap, which was funded by government and private organizations. In addition to the rooms, the lodge offers 12,500-sf of meeting space, as wells as two restaurants.
The real estate company has already discussed with the owners its tentative plans to construct an additional 8,000 sf of meeting space. "Our agreement with MEDCO and the State of Maryland is another example of our strategy to form relationships with governmental authorities and agencies," Crestline Capital CFO James L. Francis says of the deal. Crestline makes the third management team to operate the resort in its short existence.
Charles F. Ingalsbee's Resort Hotels of Maryland won what was supposed to be a 5-year management contract in 2001. Florida's Buena Vista Hospitality Group was the first property manager.
