WASHINGTON, DC-In recent testimony before the US Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, multifamily housing industry associations continued their call for congressional reform of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, in an effort to change the course of the country’s rapidly declining stable of affordable housing. The improvement of Section 8 laws is an issue that has long been on the top of the apartment industry’s list of priorities.

Last week, National Association of Apartments president Scott Gardner represented the Joint Legislative Program of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) and the National Apartment Association (NAA) at a Senate hearing entitled Proposals to Improve the Housing Voucher Program. The Senate is working on yet-to-be introduced legislation entitled The Housing Voucher Improvement Act.
