City Takes Steps for $343M City Hall

SAN JOSE-As the San Jose City Council comes closer to deciding whether to develop its new City Hall, a select group of property owners are submitting proposals in the hopes of having their site selected.

SAN JOSE-The San Jose City Council is close to making a decision on whether it will take further steps to develop a City Hall. City officials have selected several possible sites for the $343 million structure and have requested proposals from property owners.

The decision basically comes down to this– Should the city spend $343 million on a new City Hall or find a cheaper solution and use the extra money to improve community conditions and services?

If the city approves the City Hall plan, the project will most likely be built on Santa Clara Street in downtown San Jose. The alternative sites that were selected include a downtown office building, three vacant lots and the current City Hall site.
