Wellcome Plans 290,000-SF Extension to Cambridgeshire Campus

LONDON-Pharmaceuticals company Wellcome Trust has submitted an outline planning application to South Cambridgeshire District Council to build a 290,000-sf extension at its Wellcome Trust Genome Campus--where the human genome was first mapped--at Hinxton, Cambridgeshire.

LONDON-Pharmaceuticals giant Wellcome Trust has lodged a planning application with South Cambridgeshire District Council to extend its genome campus at Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, by 290,000 sf. The site currently houses the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, one of the teams that first mapped the genes in the human body.

The proposed extension will provide additional academic research facilities for the Sanger Institute. It will also include an Innovation Centre for genomics start-up companies and space for existing companies seeking to expand.
