First Surface Artery Contract Awarded

BOSTON-Jay Cashman, Inc., a locally based construction firm, wins the Big Dig contract to develop North Point Park, part of the surface artery that is exposed as the Big Dig puts the highway underground with an $18.5 million bid.

BOSTON-The first contract to develop part of the surface artery–the valuable swath of land that has been exposed as the Big Dig puts the highway underground–has been awarded. Jay Cashman, Inc., a locally based construction firm, won the contract with an $18.5 million bid.

According to Alan Waller, chief estimator for Jay Cashman, theirs was the lowest of the six bids to develop the North Point Park, which is an area on the North side of the Charles River bounded by the Charles River, the Green Line viaduct, the MBTA commuter rail tracks, and the new North Point Streets.
