According to a representative of the town's board of health, the cleanup site is about 15 acres of the property at 430 Boston Post Road. The representative notes that some members of the town are still trying to extend the area of the clean up. The property is currently controlled by the Wayland Business Group and Polaroid and a few other companies lease space there.
A representative from the town's planning department tells GlobeSt.com that it is unclear whether the land being cleaned up by Raytheon can be used for development because a good portion of it is wetlands.
Amy Hosmer, spokesperson for Raytheon tells GlobeSt.com that the company has recently contributed $25,000.00 to the town to bring in an environmental consultant to help the town assess the project. "We've been assessing the site and conducting some remedial activity then we'll go forward with the clean up," she says.
