The building, developed in 1991, was most recently occupied by Lucent Technology and is located on 20 acres of land. Analogic currently has approximately 400,000 sf of space at its Peabody, Massachusetts-based headquarters. It needs this facility because the company recently received a large order for its EXACT Systems, which will be used in an explosive detection system being purchased by the US Government and installed at major airports across the nation to scan checked luggage for aircraft. This contract, the largest in Analogic's 33 years, has a potential value of approximately $500 million.

In a released statement, Frank Vorwald, a vice president at Analogic says that the facility is perfect for the company's needs because "a sizeable area is necessary to accommodate inventory, production and testing of large numbers of these complex systems." Analogic expects to hire approximately 300 full-time employees by September, the majority of whom will work in this plant.
