Two weeks to the day after Starwood Hotels & Resorts informed Andersen that it would be shifting its independent auditing business to Ernst & Young, (Click on: Starwood Dumps Andersen as Auditor) Cleveland-based REIT Boykin Lodging Co. has iced Andersen in favor of Deloitte & Touche. Andersen had served as Boykin's independent accountants.
Like Starwood, Boykin steered clear of mentioning the embattled accounting firm's Enron-related troubles. "We appreciate the professional service that Arthur Andersen has provided over the years," says Boykin chairman and CEO Robert W. Boykin.
Boykin, which focuses on the ownership of full-service, upscale commercial and resort hotels, currently owns 33 lodging properties under well-known brands including Doubletree, Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, Embassy Suites and Courtyard by Marriott, among others.
