Smartech took space vacated by Norwood Promotional Products Inc. in the 66,600-sf Building Two at 7600 W. William Cannon Dr. It leaves the 21,630-sf Briarton building, built in 1974 at 4818 W. Ben White Blvd., in the southeast submarket and near the interchange construction at Ben White and Interstate 35.
"Smartech was able to move up in quality and cut its lease payments," says John Childers of the Austin office of Colliers International, who represented the company. He declined to give the terms of the deal. Wendy Elder of HerronWilliams represented Norwood.
Smartech provides desktop and network computer repair and support services. Clients include Unisys, IBM, NCR and Banctec as well as government agencies such at the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
