Located at 1202 Shuksan Way, the 200,500-sf facility is more than double the size of the old 90,000-sf building and with the help of newer technology, will provide the company about 30 percent more capacity for processing orders.

The center, which broke ground last July, will handle distribution for Jansport and EastPak products across North America. It also will house JanSport's repair center, where the company repairs packs sold with a lifetime guarantee.

A JanSport spokeswoman said the company outgrew the old facility as demand for backpacks has grown in recent years. The new facility will allow the company to serve customers more efficiently.

The facility employs just over 100 employees. Temporary staff is added during peak pack-buying season.
