As owner and operator, Crown West has just begun construction of a $4-million 82,000-sf combination office/warehouse building at 16125 E. Euclid. And a build-to-suit for Spokane-based Chipman Moving & Storage has also broken ground. Chipman, which purchased a one-acre lot in the park along Marietta Avenue is a 30,000-sf building said to have penciled out at $1.3 million.

The Spokane Business & Industrial Park is 500 acres of a 575-acre former World War II naval supply depot, acquired by Crown West in 1996. Since then, the company has spent in the vicinity of $20 million for infrastructure, renovation of existing buildings and new construction to attract industrial tenants to more than 4.5 million sf of space.

General contractor on both of the new projects is Vandervert Construction Inc., a prominent local firm. Completion of the two is scheduled for this August according to the project manager, Tim Stulc.

The Crown West building is being built on spec, but the company is reportedly in negotiations with a potential tenant. However, GlobeSt.com was unable to confirm the report on deadline. The construction team on the Crown West Building includes Spokane architect, Russell C. Page Architects. Lindquist Architects, also of Spokane, is the designer on the Chipman property.

In 2000, the Spokane Business & Industrial Park was ranked as the largest in the state in by the business publication, Washington CEO. Scott Brown, development manager for Crown West, tells GlobeSt.Com the park's southern 200 acres of the park has been Crown West's primary center of development.

In the fall of 2000, a 100,064-sf concrete tilt-up combination warehouse/office building was finished, and this year at the southeast corner of Sullivan Road and Kiernan in the north end of the park, a 34,440-sf flex building was completed. Crown West's last-completed building was a 105,000-sf structure completed at the end of 2000.
